Fromuth Pickleball - Our Story

 

In response to the tennis boom of the 1970s, Fromuth Fine Arts, as it was known at the time for its custom framing and art supplies, started carrying items people were looking for to get into the game: racquets, balls, and strings. Over time, tennis overwhelmed the art shop, and Fromuth Tennis was born. Fromuth Tennis is now rebranded as Fromuth Racquet Sports.

Wholesale distribution is the foundation of our business. On a busy day, UPS trucks are lined up outside our 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse, waiting to load more than 800 packages and deliver them to pro shops, country clubs, and teams across the United States.

In May 2021, we launched fromuthpickleball.com, our first direct-to-consumer e-commerce website. For a company like ours that has been committed to the racquet sports industry for more than 40 years, this represented a great new addition to our business model. Our goal is to make fromuthpickleball.com a one-stop shop for not just pickleball equipment but for apparel and shoes from globally-recognized brands like adidas, Babolat, FILA, and K-Swiss.

  

As pickleball continues its climb as one of the fastest growing sports in the world, we recognized the need and demand for a local facility dedicated to pickleball. In June 2021, the West Reading playground in our hometown welcomed players from the tri-county region to a brand new 10-court public pickleball facility. Pat and Meg Shields, owners of Fromuth, gifted the courts to the community through their philanthropic foundation. Since its opening, the courts are consistently filled with players who take part in a variety of pickleball programs including private lessons, clinics, tournaments, and recreational open-play.
